Last week I accidently left my data cable for my Nokia 6630 in Bandung, so I have to use bluetooth in my handphone and laptop to connect to the internet. I’ve manage to do all the setting by editing /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf, /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf and /etc/wvdial.conf.
The problem is i can’t get my handphone paired with my laptop. The solution is that I have to install bluez-gnome package.
$ sudo apt-get install bluez-gnome
After installed, I add bt-applet into Sessions because I want it to be run at startup. I have new menu called “Bluetooth Preferences” in System –> Preferences.
If the bt-applet already run, there will be a bluetooth icon in your taskbar.
Then I try to initiate a pairing from my handphone, this time I would like to pair my Siemens S75 with my laptop. After you key in the pin in my handphone, I get a notification like this
When I click the notification, there will be a dialog for me to insert the PIN
After I key in the same PIN I keyed in my handphone, I get another notification that my handphone is paired.
Now I can connect to internet using my handphone via bluetooth
