Teehan+Lax have, at long last, released their Retina-ready iPad GUI PSD. Longtime readers will know that I normally post whenever Teehan+Lax release one of their Photoshop-based mobile UI sets, but this one is different: With the overall resolution in the new iPad, and some of the newer elements in iOS 5.1, the scale of this project was immense (as anyone following Geoff on Twitter already knows). It’s also quite interesting that the file was made in and requires the Photoshop CS6 beta:

It’s a free download right now and, in my humble opinion, one of the best releases of Photoshop to date. Its perfect pixel snapping, grouped layer styles and a few other features enabled us to create the assets with more accuracy, yet remain remarkably editable.

You’ll have to download the PSD to see all of the detail and labor that must have gone into making it. Congrats to the team!

Put another way:

Good (iPhone 3GS) — Better (iPhone 4) — Best (iPhone 4S).

Vs.

You should get this one, it has a nicer screen than this one. But wait, it’s slower. Maybe get this other one. But this one has a keyboard. But I hate keyboards. So get this one, it runs Windows Phone. But maybe I should go Android. Oh, so get this one. Well, but I sort of like the clamshell. Then this is the one you want. But I hate the color. Okay, then this one. Well, I also kind of like this one, but it’s running an older version of Android. So then this is the one you want. The screen is too damn big. Okay, just close your eyes and pick one goddamnit.

Choice sounds great until you have to choose.

This fills me with equal parts hope and cynicism. Let’s hope the future of government transparency includes a web/iPhone app that lets me sort/filter politicians by “supports dinosaur economy subsidies” and has my best interest in mind. I wish I was kidding…

Social psychologist Amy Cuddy’s pioneering research shows that subtle manipulations in posture can actually change our hormone levels and dramatically alter the way we feel and are perceived by the people around us. Just two minutes in one of Cuddy’s power poses boosted cortisol levels and actually changed the performance of research participants in stressful situations. She channeled these findings into empowerment training tips. Check out her PopTech presentation to find out how you can use your body language to win in the boardroom, your next job, interview or public performance.
